Sulmona in Abruzzo is famous for its 'confetti' (sugared almonds). Rapone Panfilo is a family run business (for 10 generations) – though the owner was very particular about not wanting photos taken in his shop. We tasted many different types – not just with almonds, but with candied orange, ginger, cherries – all either sugar or chocolate coated. Batches are small & seasonal & utterly delicious
